Recording and mixing

While the Crazy Daisy Productions studio is primarily an Audio Production Facility (Mixing, Mastering and Short-run Duplication), we do also offer recording and mixing services as with any other studio. Recording projects are generally only for people residing in the vicinity of Eugene, Oregon and are scheduled on a case-by-case basis, typically in the evenings or weekends so as to not take time away from our other production projects. We have 2 comfortable, acoustically-treated rooms for recording vocals and live instruments. In one room we utilize a condenser mic recording chain consisting of a Blue Baby Bottle microphone, Presonus Eureka pre-amp, and Presonus Firepod 24-bit/96kHz DAC recorded into Cubase 64-bit. We also have a Lexicon MX200 outboard dual-stereo effects processor and 4-output headphone amplifier to help provide a comfortable monitoring environment for the artists. Vocals are picked up clean and rich sounding with almost zero background or eletronic noise present. Instruments can also be recorded through this chain and/or one of our two sets of directional stereo condensor mics and a variety of dynamic mics available. In our other studio, a variety of instruments can be recorded into a dedicated ProTools workstation. This room is set up particularly well for live drum kit recording and is the space we use for live drum replacement recording, as well as for many of our other instrument track replacement/addition projects.

Need an instrument? We've have a variety of acoustic and electric stringed instruments, wooden flutes, and many percussion instruments available to use if you wish to add something more to your recordings. Our Yamaha S08 standard full-size MIDI keyboard contains a variety of built-in instrument sounds and sound effects and has weighted keys for realistic piano key feel. MIDI recordings allow complete control over the timing, volume level, attack, decay, and even the instrument sound itself at any point in the recording or mixing process.

We can provide mixing work, both in-depth and touch-up work, for projects done in many of the most common platforms: ProTools, Cubase, Logic, Digital Performer, Live, and from any other system if prepared properly for platform-independent transferring.

For most local recording and mixing projects we offer a low hourly rate of $30/hr, plus project administration fees and incidental costs. The amount of time required will depend on the complexity of your project. Call us at 541-517-1458 or email us at sales@crazymastering.com to discuss details with one of our engineers and get a price and time estimate for your project. If you need additional material added by a studio musician or would like one or more of your recorded tracks replaced by a studio musician, be sure to check out our link for Track Addition/Replacement under Mixing and Other Services at the top of the page.
